Federal Government requirement for air travellers

Air Creebec has received consultation documents from the federal government concerning the requirement for travellers by air, and federally regulated business employees to be vaccinated.

As we understand it at this point, it will be required that persons to be transported by air, on scheduled or charter flights departing from specified airports, will be required to show that they are adequately vaccinated (based on the vaccine received) before boarding an aircraft.

The Federal Vaccine mandate would apply to all of the following passengers:

  • All travellers 12 years of age and older, boarding any flight from a specified airport in Canada; AND
  • Flying on commercial passenger aircraft, including both scheduled and charter flights.

Airports, and airlines will be expected to have measures in place by October 30, 2021, to ensure adherence to this new rule. There will be an allowance for proof of negative test for Covid-19 within 72 hours of travel to be provided by the traveller, but only until November 30, 2021. After that, only proof of adequate vaccination will be required. Tests will no longer be accepted.
